The Story that Made the Cigar. The Cigar That Made History.
In 1935, The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the most popular books read by the Lectores de Tabaqueria. These professional readers, hired by cigar factories in La Habana, used to read stories from elevated platforms to rollers while they plied their craft. In the the Particulares Factory, this story of swashbuckling adventure captivated listeners so much that it was requested over and over again, thus a cigar took the name and spirit of the Count and the Montecristo brand was born.
Celebrating this rich history, the new Montecristo 80th Anniversary is a very special, extremely limited-edition cigar featuring Dominican Pilotico tobacco grown from seeds hand-carried from Cuba by Pepe Mendez.
Rolled in a dark and oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, the Montecristo 80th Anniversary has notes of nuts, leather and a sweet aftertaste. It’s a rich, fuller-bodied and wonderfully complex smoke-the perfect way to mark this momentous occasion.
