SAGA Cigar Reviews

Below are some SAGA cigar reviews from our team members:

SAGA Short Tales No. 6 - Review by Justin

"The wrapper was dark, a little oily and it burned evenly. Cigar was firm. It burned steady, slow and evenly. On the palate were hints of dark chocolate, wood, hazelnuts and a small hint of spice. As the cigar got half to 3/4 of the way through, there was a hint of cream. I enjoyed this cigar as it was medium to full in body."

SAGA Solaz Gordo - Review by Vince

"At first glance, the Solaz has a premium construction to it. The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper looks mellow and inviting. I was surprised to find that at first light up, it provided much spice which I would attribute to its Dominican binder and filler. The draw was a little too loose and took effort to provide a bellowing smoke. The burn was consistent with a premium cigar. After the first third of the cigar was done, the spice took a back seat and paved the way for the creaminess that I was originally expecting. For the rest of the smoke, it seemed very consistent with the creamy mild to medium flavors and I seemed to pick up on some notes of wood and cedar. Overall, it was a very good cigar and I rated it at 89."

Don Julio Robusto - Review by Vince

"The Don Julio’s appearance is phenomenal; from the band to the rich leaf. The wrapper possesses a medium to dark brown color with a hint of reddish cinnamon and gave me the impression of a rich and complex smoke. Upon lighting up, I was invited with a peppery taste with some hints of cedar and citrus. The draw was open but not too loose which allowed minimal effort to bellow smoke. Burn was a little inconsistent and the cigar seemed to want to canoe despite my best efforts to keep it consistent. The next third of the cigar yielded a creamy and chocolatey duet as the pepper slowly took a back seat. Finishing, the cream and chocolate persisted and notes of espresso and tobacco entered the equation. Overall, a fantastic stick and very complex. I rated the Don Julio a 94."

SAGA Solaz - Review by Jordon

"Incredibly cool and easy on the palate, and mild from beginning to end--qualities of the cigar's claro shade grown wrapper. Grassiness, cedar and a hint of black pepper predominate the initial lighting of the cigar, with the pepper giving way to more unusual herbal and mineral notes that appear in intervals to the end. A spring cigar, light and airy, a touch of cream, and perfect for anyone wanting an unobtrusive experience."
